Case Study: Planting Roots
The Context & Challenge
Planting Roots, a nonprofit ministry supporting military women and wives, sought to expand its influence and create stronger connections within military communities. While their mission was clear, to provide faith-based resources and support, their branding and outreach materials lacked consistency. Without a unified visual identity or structured social media strategy, it was difficult to build trust with on-base churches and chaplains while engaging military women through digital platforms.
The Mission
Working alongside Planting Roots, we set out to:
Designed a brochure to serve as a core outreach tool for military chapels, churches, and potential members, explaining Planting Roots’ mission and how to get involved.
Created a social media toolkit with customizable templates for various social media platforms, ensuring consistent branding and messaging across platforms.
Built a scalable outreach framework that allows Planting Roots to grow its impact while maintaining a strong and recognizable brand identity.
Our Approach
We started by conducting an in-depth review of Planting Roots’ existing materials, identifying gaps in branding and messaging. From there, our team developed a comprehensive branding system that could be seamlessly applied across print and digital channels. The brochure design focused on clarity and engagement, using strong visual storytelling to make an immediate impact. For social media, we created customizable templates that reflect the brand’s mission while ensuring ease of use for future content creation. Finally, we developed a strategic framework to guide future outreach efforts, helping Planting Roots maintain a strong and consistent presence across all communication channels.
The result was a versatile, professional brand presence that reinforced Planting Roots' credibility and strengthened its engagement with military women and ministry partners.
The Impact
Enhanced Outreach & Visibility: The newly designed brochure provided an engaging way for Planting Roots to introduce their mission to military chapels and churches, making it easier for leaders to share their resources with women on base.
Stronger Digital Presence: With a social media toolkit, Planting Roots now has the tools for a consistent and recognizable online identity, making their messaging more effective and professional.
Streamlined Communication: The visual strategy and branding guidelines ensured that all future materials align with the organization’s mission, helping maintain clarity across all platforms.

“I loved getting to come up with innovative ideas about how to best help Planting Roots share their mission with their community. I was challenged by maintaining thorough communication with the Planting Roots team and delegating work while also managing two other clients. One thing I hope our team accomplished was providing them with the tools they needed to successfully share their services with women in uniform and military wives.”

“Creating the social media templates for Planting Roots was all about making their message clear, accessible, and visually engaging. We wanted to design something that not only looked great but was also easy for their team to use across different platforms. Built in Canva, the templates provide a familiar and user-friendly platform, allowing the team to customize content effortlessly while maintaining brand consistency.”
